The Economy and Sustainable Development Ministry’s Company for the Development of Mountainous Resorts says this year’s winter season in Bakuriani, Gudauri, Svaneti and Goderdzi will open on December 10, which is the earliest opening in the last 20 years. More precisely, as the head of the abovementioned company Alexandre Onoprishvili says, the majority of ski tracks will be active since December 10 and some of the others will have to wait until the end of the month.
‘What is also very important is that it is possible to use the same seasonal ticket in all of the ski tracks in Bakuriani, Gudauri, Svaneti and Goderdzi. Another novelty is that online payment is already available, which means standing in long lines will be avoided. In 2016, for the first time in Georgia, 9 cable cars were built in Tetnuldi, Gudauri and Mitarbi. The latter will receive visitors for the first time in 30 years,’ Onoprishvili says, adding that the master plan for Mitarbi was developed by a French company GEODE.
‘This is the first resort in the history of Georgia, where the thorough planning will be carried out and no chaotic constructions will take place. In Gudauri, two new Dopplemeyer cable cars and 2 ski lifts have been installed. The cable car will open during the winter season. The Gudauri Development Project was prepared by one of the best Canadian companies, that means additional

infrastructure will be built to receive more tourists,’ Onoprishvili states, adding that 3 more cable cars were built in Tetnuldi.
‘This resort is famous for the unique quality of the snow and a great touristic potential. In fact, it is one of the best winter resorts in Eastern Europe. Tetnuldi will be able to receive up to 7 000 skiers at a time. The ski track here is the longest (9.5 kilometers) and the steepest (1.7 kilometers) in South Caucasus’, - Onoprishvili said
